courtesy of Janora McDiffie

Today I had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Janora McDuffie who is a VO Artist, an Actress, a Speaker, and most recently the Announcer for the 94th Academy Awards.

We discuss her role as “Aunt Liz” in the upcoming film Praise This. Janora plays alongside five-time Grammy nominee Chloe Bailey, star of Grown-ish and half of the sibling musical duo Chlöe x Halle, in this new cinematic musical event set in the world of Atlanta's competitive gospel youth choir praise teams. It’s directed by Tina Gordon and produced by Will Packer and Shayla Cowan.

"Praise This" follows aspiring musical superstar Sam (Chloe Bailey), a young woman driven to break into the music business. So, when her father (Philip Fornah; Richard Jewel), worried that Sam is associating with a dangerous crowd, moves them from Los Angeles to Atlanta to live with Sam's Aunt Liz (Janora McDuffie; 94th Oscars, Gray's Anatomy), Uncle Larry (Kendrick Cross), and sunny cousin, Jess (Anjelika Washington; Stargirl, Tall Girl franchise), Sam is not happy.

Sam is forced to join her cousin's struggling, underdog praise team in the lead-up to a national championship competition. She sees an opening to make her dreams come true finally. She discovers that ambition can have consequences and praise is not about glory but gratitude.

The film will be streaming on Friday April 7th on Peacock. Check out a clip from my Studio Q conversation with Janora McDuffie below.

What Everyone Must Know About That Time I Met Actress Regina King [VIDEO]

What everyone must know about that time I met Academy Award winning actress, Regina King is that she’s down to earth, embodies black excellence and a class act! I have had the honor of meeting Regina King on three different occasions. My first encounter was on a red carpet at an event in Beverly Hills, CA. I had never been on a red carpet of any kind before so, it was both exciting and frightening. I was covering an event for my friend Stan Washington who was the editor of The Atlanta Voice newspaper.

Stsn Washington and I at The Atlanta Voice

My Regna King encounter was the most memorable moment of the entire night. I stood right next to Entertainment Tonight and was shell shocked and unprepared. Imagine standing next to one of the biggest celebrity media outlets in the world, without a camera, a microphone or any recording device whatsoever. I was so green! When I look back now all I can do is laugh. I had no idea what I was even doing. I literally just had a notepad and pen to document the event. Even though it was 2005, I showed like media from the 1960’s.

I remember Stevie Wonder being right in front of me and his handlers quickly walked him away because I appeared to be a nobody. I don’t blame Stevie though because we all know he had no idea.

It was all going downhill until Regina King walked by. She not only stopped right in front me, looked me dead in the eye when she spoke to me and answered my questions like I really was Entertainment tonight. I will never forget how kind she was and how special she made me feel in that moment.

The next time I met Regina King was virtually. I was selected to ask her a question on Hufffpost Live. She was just as kind via the internet as she was in person. You can see for yourself below.

My final encounter came years later at actress Holly Robinson’s 50th birthday party which was held in Malibu. I covered the red carpet as Studio Q for this event so I had come along way since my first experience.

Regina did not walk the red carpet so I had no idea she was even present at the party. It was when my friend and I were packing up our equipment to leave that I saw her walking from the bathroom.

When I saw her I had no shame. I immediately made a beeline to her for a photo, which is pictured above.

She said, “I. tell you what, f you zip my jumpsuit up in the back, I’ll take a photo with you.”

“Of course!” I replied.

Regina King was so down to earth and kind, which I always love to mention because everybody ain’t whether they are a celebrity or not. She was such a nice person, which makes it even more devastating to learn of the horrible loss she recently suffered.

On January 22nd Regina King suffered the worst tragedy a mother could ever endure. Her son, Ian Alexander Jr., passed away from suicide just days after his 26th birthday. It was her one and only child whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr. I am sending a lifetime worth of healing energy to Regina King and her family. I don’t know her personally , but my positive encounters with her made me feel like a family member suffered the lost instead of just a famous actress. I pray that she is surrounded by love and continuous support during this time.

Quencie Interviews Viral Tik Tok Star, Shantaquillette - HeyShantaQ [VIDEO]

In 2021, I became obsessed with Tik Tok. I spent so much time on the app that I felt the need to share the videos that I loved to my Facebook page. I had to find a way to justify all the hours I was laughing, crying or dancing from a video I saw on there. People immediately loved what I was sharing so much so that a lot of the videos I posted started to go viral.

Shantaquillette starred in a few of those viral videos that I posted. She already had a huge following on Tik Tok and videos that had gone viral on Tik tok and Instagram. She could now add my Studio Q Facebook page to that viral list.

I was so excited about all of the viral videos on my page that I created a Studio Q interview series to talk with the content creators about the success of their videos.

Check out my conversation with ShantaQuillette below and follow her on all social media platforms @HeyShantaQ! Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Artist and Tik Tok Creator of "Go Lay Down," NAJÉ [VIDEO]

On November 23rd I went live for the very first time on my Studio Q Facebook Page to interview artist and Tik Tok Creator NAJÉ. She is the creator of the song “Go Lay Down,” which blew up on Tik Tok back in May. In less than 48 hours her Tik Tok literally took on a life of its own. It even inspired celebrities like Gabrielle Union, Aisha Hinds, LaLa Anthony, Keith David and R & B artist, Major to duet her and post it on their social media platforms.

Who knew that creating a Tik Tok after a long work day to simply convey how she felt at the moment would change her life! But it did. NAJÉ now has over 100,000 followers on Tik Tok and fans from all over the world request her to sing songs and create merchandise for them to rock her trending anthem, “Go Lay Down.”

I had so much fun interviewing NAJÊ! She even blessed us with a live version of “Go Lay Down” and a few other songs during our interview. Check out our Facebook live conversation below.

Recently, I became obsessed with the Tik Tok app and shared a lot of the videos I ran across to my Studio Q Facebook page. Many of those videos garnered a million views or more in only a few days so, I decided to create a series to interview the creators of these videos on my @StudioQTV Instagram.

When I posted a video by Tik Tok creator, Arleisha Marshall it went viral. Her video garnered over 12 million views on my Facebook page. I was so amazed by the success of her video that she was the first person I reached out to interview.

What’s crazy is Arleisha is an amazing singer who has been posting her talent for years but the video that went viral had nothing to do with her beautiful voice. She has blown up on Tik Tok with over a 1 million followers just by being herself. How awesome! Follow her on Instagram @beauty_by_Arleisha and Tik Tok @arleisham!
