On Wednesday January 11, 2023 I interviewed Rahsaan Patterson live on my Studio Q Facebook page, and Youtube channel.

Rahsaan Patterson is a gifted singer-songwriter who has made a name for himself in the music industry with his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Born in New York City in 1974, Patterson began his career as a child actor on the popular television show "Kids Incorporated." But it was his love for music that ultimately led him to pursue a career as a musician.

Patterson's debut album, "Love in Stereo," was released in 1997 and received critical acclaim for its blend of R&B, soul, and pop music. The album featured the hit single "Where You Are," which reached number one on the Billboard Adult R&B chart and solidified Patterson as a rising star in the music industry.

Over the years, Patterson has released several more albums, including "After Hours," "Rahsaan Patterson," and "Heroes & Gods." Each album showcases Patterson's unique style and musical talents, as well as his ability to connect with listeners through his lyrics. His songs often touch on themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth, and they have resonated with audiences around the world.

In addition to his solo work, Patterson has also collaborated with other artists, including Tevin Campbell, Brandy, and Ledisi. He has also been featured on several soundtracks, including the films "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "The Best Man."

Patterson's music is often described as timeless, and it is clear that he is a true artist who is dedicated to his craft. He continues to tour and perform around the world, and his fans eagerly await each new release. With his unique voice and sincere lyrics, Rahsaan Patterson has cemented his place in the music industry as a true singer-songwriter.

Quencie Interviews The First USA X Factor Winner, Singer/ Songwriter Melanie Amaro [VIDEO]

On Saturday, November 6th I interviewed the first winner of X Factor USA, Melanie Amaro on my For The Love of Whitney Facebook page. I recently posted an amazing video of her singing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston, which garnered over 400,00 views. As I was reviewing the comment section of the video I saw someone accuse Melanie of lip synching. I was so outraged that I asked if her if I could interview her on the page. I wanted to discuss the ridiculousness of anyone thinking she was lip synching after she won a national singing competition, which was solely based on how great her voice was.

Melanie was so much fun to talk to. We addressed all of those insane lip synching comments and then she shared her incredible story of meeting Whitney Houston 2 days before she passed away. She even sang The Greatest Love of all at the end of our interview, which is my favorite Whitney song.

On Sunday, December 1, 2019, I covered the 29th Annual Divas Simply Singing event at the Taglyan Cultural Complex in Hollywood presented by The Diva Foundation. The DIVA Foundation (acronym for Divinely Inspired, Victoriously Aware) is a nonprofit 501c (3) charitable organization founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph in 1990 as a memorial to the many friends she lost to HIV/AIDS while in the original Broadway company of Dreamgirls. The organization focuses on generating resources and coordinating activities to create awareness and combat against HIV/AIDS. The DIVA Foundation utilizes music and entertainment as a vehicle to inform, educate and erase the stigma still attached to this disease. In 2005, Sheryl Lee Ralph and the DIVA Foundation received the first Red Ribbon Leadership Award at the United Nations on World AIDS Day for the unique use of the arts in fighting HIV/AIDS.

The film weaves together the story of four desperate men who will do anything to make their dreams come true,  and the brave men and women who fight to save the lives of innocent people.

Congratulations to singer Syleena Johnson who can now add Talk Show Host to her resume. According to TheJasminebrand, TV One is the latest network to hop into the talk show space, launching a new daily roundtable talk show called ‘Sister Circle’. Launching on September 11th, the show feature a panel of four women — Quad Webb-Lunceford (“Married To Medicine”), singer Syleena Johnson, sports reporter Rashan Ali, and standup comedian Kiana Dancie— discussing a range of lifestyle and relationship issues as well as topical subjects. Daytime TV vet Helen Swenson has been tapped as showrunner. The hourlong show will also blend in celebrity guests and expert commentary. It will air live in East Coast markets at 9 a.m. ET, originating from Tegna’s Atlanta outlet, NBC affiliate WXIA-TV. Tegna plans to launch the show on 12 of its 46 stations. The company is not looking to expand the show’s lineup outside those stations. Instead, the focus is on fine-tuning the show during its first season on the limited Tegna footprint and TV One, in the hopes of developing a stronger series to offer in syndication in year two.

Quencie Interviews Kyanna Simone Simpson Who Played Oprah Winfrey's Younger Character in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks on HBO

Today, I did a Skype interview with actress Kyanna Simone Simpson who played the younger version of Oprah Winfrey's character in the biopic surrounding Henrietta Lacks life called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks on HBO. The film tells the true story of Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line. Told through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah Lacks (Oprah Winfrey), the film chronicles her search to learn about the mother she never knew and to understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever.

I had so much fun talking to Kyanna about her career, her mentor Latanya Richardson Jackson and what it was like to meet and work with Oprah Winfrey, which was a dream come true for her.  This budding actress who is known for her recurring role on HBO’s miniseries Show Me a Hero is currently working on the film, White Boy Rick starring Matthew McConaughey.

Opening Night of #TheBodyguardTheMusical at The Hollywood #Pantages Theater [VIDEO]

Last night, Tam and I (Studio Q) covered LA's premiere of the hit musical, THE BODYGUARD at The Hollywood Pantages theater.  It is an award–winning musical based on the smash–hit film of the same name. Who could forget Kevin Coster as Frank Farmer, the former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron, played by the late great Whitney Houston? It was Whitney's first film, so I was super excited to see this show.

Judson Mills and Deborah cox

Judson Mills and Deborah cox

Grammy® Award-nominated and multi-platinum R&B/pop recording artist and film/TV actress Deborah Cox stars as Rachel Marron. In the role of the bodyguard Frank Farmer, is television star Judson Mills. I am such a huge Whitney Houston fan so I am very biased when it comes to other people singing her songs, but as soon as Deborah Cox opened her mouth - I was sold! Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. film, and adapted by Academy Award-winner (BirdmanAlexander DinelarisTHE BODYGUARD featured songs recorded by Whitney Houston including: One Moment in Time, I Have NothingI Wanna Dance with Somebody, Saving All My Love, Run to You, So Emotional and her cover version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You.  What I loved most about this show is that Deborah Cox was not trying to be Whitney Houston.  She made the songs her own all while celebrating Whitney at the same time. If you love Whitney Houston, then this is a MUST-SEE! If you love the film, The Bodyguard then you are going to like how they adapted it to the stage. If you love and appreciate musical theater and amazing singing - this is a MUST-SEE! And if you are a Deborah Cox fan, you will be in heaven from beginning to end. You will find yourself singing along and celebrating Whitney in a positive way.

Maronzio Vance says Aaron McGruder Never Gave Him Credit for Work on 'The Boondocks'

I interviewed Maronzio Vance of TV Land's 'Lopez" show and among the many things we discussed his love of comic books and animation was right at the top of the list.  In my research for our interview I discovered that he had worked on the popular show "The Boondocks" which was created by Aaron McGruder.  Watch Maronzio talk about how he worked on the show but never received credit.

Maronzio Vance Talks About Being Homeless and Carless in LA

One of the main reasons I love interviewing people is that you have the opportunity to be inspired by their backstory. No one just arrived at the top. We all have ups and downs on the way to any dream or goal.  In my interview with comedian Maronzio Vance of TV Land's show "Lopez" he revealed that he was homeless and carless for a time in LA. You cannot help but be motivated to stay on your grind after hearing Maronzio's story.  He let nothing stop him from staying on his path.  If this doesn't inspire you to stay on your hustle I don't know what will.  Watch below.
