Over the last couple of months I became obsessed with Tik Tok and shared a lot of the videos I ran across to my Studio Q Facebook page. Many of those videos garnered a million views or more in only a few days. I decided to create a interview series to interview the creators of these videos and Maya was the first Tik Tok creator I interviewed in my live series on Instagram.

On June 29th I interviewed Artist, Jerell Gantt live on my @studioqtv Instagram. Jerell is a phenomenal artist who specializes in immortalizing black culture, black style, and black history through art. Hailing from Washington D.C., and now residing in Atlanta, Ga, Jerell expresses his personal dispositions through visual creations.

I discovered Jerell (@imitationbyjerell on Instagram) through one of his many viral videos of his art. So many celebrities featured in his creations have both reposted his work on their social media platforms as well as purchased his work. Many times I have seen his work sold as soon as he posts! Yes, he’s that good! What I love most about Jerell’s art is how he pays homage to icons in Black music, sports and history. Check out his Etsy shop and make sure to follow him on Instagram @imitationbyjerell and Tik Tok @imitationbyJerell

Quencie Interviews Torres Strait Islander, and Tik Tok Creator Scottie Savage on Instagram Live [VIDEO]

It was so wonderful to interview Torres Strait Islander, Scottie Savage. I posted one of his Tik Tok videos to my Studio Q Facebook page and it garnered over 1 million views in less than 2 weeks. I decided to create an Instagram Live series to interview content creators who went viral on my page.

Aside from Scottie’s video going viral on my facebook page, I also wanted to interview him because of his deep connection to his ancestors and his culture. The dances featured in the viral videos are ones that honor his culture.

I was beyond impressed that someone so young would take the time to make others aware about their heritage in such a profound way. I also love the way Scottie honors his grandparents and showcased them in his social media content. His content both educates and entertains his audience all at the same time.

It was so cool to discuss Scottie’s culture live and direct from Australia. One of the great things about technology is being able to connect with people form all over the world and learn about them. I loved talking to Scottie so much that I immediately made him my internet nephew! I am so looking forward to his future. The way he shares his culture with the world is amazing and I hope is something he continues to do.
