Quencie Interviews Singer/Songwriter and Owner of Anise Records - BETH

On March 1, 2022 I interviewed singer, songwriter and owner of Anise record label Beth Griffith Manley. She has sang background for the legendary and iconic Anita Baker and singer KEM. You may have seen her on season 16 of The Voice on Team John Legend and Kelly Clarkston or know her as the daughter of Motown royalty. Her dad was original funk brother pianist, Johnny Griffith and played on so many iconic Motown hits.

What had me most excited about this interview was that I got to ask Beth about being Whitney Houston’s body double in the movie Sparkle! We both share a deep love for Whitney so it was amazing to get a chance speaking about her in the interview.

BETH has a new single "Let Me Be" dropping March 22nd, and on April 15th a cover of Sade's Kiss of Life will be released. It is a collaboration with musician Blair Bryant, who is a prodigy and a musical director for NAJE'.  BETH's second album Get To Know Me will be dropping in June.

BETH is just your typical black woman blazing trails. She’s the perfect person for me kick off Women’s history month and celebrate world compliment day cuz her journey has been more amazing.

Quencie interviews International Recording Artist Alli' Starr about her Whitney Houston Tribute [VIDEO]

On February 17th, 2022 I had the opportunity to interview International Recording Artist Alli' Starr about her tribute show to honor the music of Whitney Houston. I absolutely love interviewing people who love Whitney like I do. She even sang for a Whitney song!

Quencie and Tam Talk Whitney Houston and Celebrate The First Red Carpet Event Studio Q Covered! [VIDEO]

On February 9th Studio Q covered it's first red carpet event, which was also the last red carpet that Whitney Houston walked. It was at a pre-grammy party given by Kelly Price and Jason Lee called 'For The Love of R & B' at Tru night Club in Hollywood.

This was a very special event because it marks the last time I got to hug Whitney Houston before she passed just 2 days later. Check out our conversation where we shared memories about that day, that moment, and everything that led up to it.

Isaac Hayes shared so many gems in our interview including how there is still time for to invest in his social media platform at startengine.com/fanbase. Check out our conversation below.

What Everyone Must Know About That Time I Met Actress Regina King [VIDEO]

What everyone must know about that time I met Academy Award winning actress, Regina King is that she’s down to earth, embodies black excellence and a class act! I have had the honor of meeting Regina King on three different occasions. My first encounter was on a red carpet at an event in Beverly Hills, CA. I had never been on a red carpet of any kind before so, it was both exciting and frightening. I was covering an event for my friend Stan Washington who was the editor of The Atlanta Voice newspaper.

Stsn Washington and I at The Atlanta Voice

My Regna King encounter was the most memorable moment of the entire night. I stood right next to Entertainment Tonight and was shell shocked and unprepared. Imagine standing next to one of the biggest celebrity media outlets in the world, without a camera, a microphone or any recording device whatsoever. I was so green! When I look back now all I can do is laugh. I had no idea what I was even doing. I literally just had a notepad and pen to document the event. Even though it was 2005, I showed like media from the 1960’s.

I remember Stevie Wonder being right in front of me and his handlers quickly walked him away because I appeared to be a nobody. I don’t blame Stevie though because we all know he had no idea.

It was all going downhill until Regina King walked by. She not only stopped right in front me, looked me dead in the eye when she spoke to me and answered my questions like I really was Entertainment tonight. I will never forget how kind she was and how special she made me feel in that moment.

The next time I met Regina King was virtually. I was selected to ask her a question on Hufffpost Live. She was just as kind via the internet as she was in person. You can see for yourself below.

My final encounter came years later at actress Holly Robinson’s 50th birthday party which was held in Malibu. I covered the red carpet as Studio Q for this event so I had come along way since my first experience.

Regina did not walk the red carpet so I had no idea she was even present at the party. It was when my friend and I were packing up our equipment to leave that I saw her walking from the bathroom.

When I saw her I had no shame. I immediately made a beeline to her for a photo, which is pictured above.

She said, “I. tell you what, f you zip my jumpsuit up in the back, I’ll take a photo with you.”

“Of course!” I replied.

Regina King was so down to earth and kind, which I always love to mention because everybody ain’t whether they are a celebrity or not. She was such a nice person, which makes it even more devastating to learn of the horrible loss she recently suffered.

On January 22nd Regina King suffered the worst tragedy a mother could ever endure. Her son, Ian Alexander Jr., passed away from suicide just days after his 26th birthday. It was her one and only child whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr. I am sending a lifetime worth of healing energy to Regina King and her family. I don’t know her personally , but my positive encounters with her made me feel like a family member suffered the lost instead of just a famous actress. I pray that she is surrounded by love and continuous support during this time.

Quencie Interviews Viral Tik Tok Star, Shantaquillette - HeyShantaQ [VIDEO]

In 2021, I became obsessed with Tik Tok. I spent so much time on the app that I felt the need to share the videos that I loved to my Facebook page. I had to find a way to justify all the hours I was laughing, crying or dancing from a video I saw on there. People immediately loved what I was sharing so much so that a lot of the videos I posted started to go viral.

Shantaquillette starred in a few of those viral videos that I posted. She already had a huge following on Tik Tok and videos that had gone viral on Tik tok and Instagram. She could now add my Studio Q Facebook page to that viral list.

I was so excited about all of the viral videos on my page that I created a Studio Q interview series to talk with the content creators about the success of their videos.

Check out my conversation with ShantaQuillette below and follow her on all social media platforms @HeyShantaQ! Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Artist and Tik Tok Creator of "Go Lay Down," NAJÉ [VIDEO]

On November 23rd I went live for the very first time on my Studio Q Facebook Page to interview artist and Tik Tok Creator NAJÉ. She is the creator of the song “Go Lay Down,” which blew up on Tik Tok back in May. In less than 48 hours her Tik Tok literally took on a life of its own. It even inspired celebrities like Gabrielle Union, Aisha Hinds, LaLa Anthony, Keith David and R & B artist, Major to duet her and post it on their social media platforms.

Who knew that creating a Tik Tok after a long work day to simply convey how she felt at the moment would change her life! But it did. NAJÉ now has over 100,000 followers on Tik Tok and fans from all over the world request her to sing songs and create merchandise for them to rock her trending anthem, “Go Lay Down.”

I had so much fun interviewing NAJÊ! She even blessed us with a live version of “Go Lay Down” and a few other songs during our interview. Check out our Facebook live conversation below.

Quencie Interviews The First USA X Factor Winner, Singer/ Songwriter Melanie Amaro [VIDEO]

On Saturday, November 6th I interviewed the first winner of X Factor USA, Melanie Amaro on my For The Love of Whitney Facebook page. I recently posted an amazing video of her singing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston, which garnered over 400,00 views. As I was reviewing the comment section of the video I saw someone accuse Melanie of lip synching. I was so outraged that I asked if her if I could interview her on the page. I wanted to discuss the ridiculousness of anyone thinking she was lip synching after she won a national singing competition, which was solely based on how great her voice was.

Melanie was so much fun to talk to. We addressed all of those insane lip synching comments and then she shared her incredible story of meeting Whitney Houston 2 days before she passed away. She even sang The Greatest Love of all at the end of our interview, which is my favorite Whitney song.

9 Reasons Why I Love The New Space Gray MacBook Pro [PHOTOS]

Macbook Pro 13” Space Gray labtop

Macbook Pro 13” Space Gray labtop

I love my new space gray Macbook Pro so much that I felt compelled to share with you 9 reasons why! I have been a mac girl for the past 15 years. I started out with a desktop but when I had to lay that computer to rest I decided to replace it with a laptop. I have had my silver Macbook Air since 2011 so, I desperately needed to upgrade.

Not only did my computer move at a snail’s pace, I literally needed the charger plugged in at all times for it to run. Otherwise my battery would quickly drop down to zero! Regardless to how slow it was, it still worked! This is why I have remained loyal to Apple products. They last a long time!

Last week, I finally upgraded and became the proud new owner of a space gray 13 “ inch Macbook Pro with that Apple M1 chip I saw everyone on Twitter talking about. It has 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. I love everything about this new computer. Every time I open it to work I feel like I am in the future, but the reality is I had been living in the past. If you’re looking for a new laptop allow me to share 9 reasons why you should get this one!

  • 1. I saw so many tweets about how much faster the M1 chip helped the speed that I was most excited about this feature. The Apple-designed M1 chip is a giant leap in CPU, (Central Processing Unit) GPU (Graphics Processing Units) and machine learning performance. I love how quickly I click and open things all over. You’re gonna love it, especially if it is an upgrade like mine was. The lightning speed you will experience using this laptop is thrilling.

  • 2. I now have up to 20 hours of battery life to work and without the charger! I used to be tied to my charger because my computer was so slow. This new laptop has the longest battery life ever in the history of the Mac. Whoo-hoo!

  • 3. The 8-core CPU delivers up to 2.8x faster performance to fly through workflows quicker than ever. The speed that I experience with having multiple windows opened while I multitask projects is what I now live for. It makes working so much easier and fast!

  • 4. The HD camera for Face time calls or going live is crystal clear. My reflection in the camera is crystal clear. I immediately noticed how improved the camera was as soon as I opened Face time for the first time. Also, the 8-core GPU with up to 5x faster graphics for graphics-intensive apps and games

  • 5. 16-core Neural Engine for advanced machine learning

  • 6. 8GB of unified memory so everything you do is fast and fluid

  • 7. Super fast SSD storage launches apps and opens files in an instant

  • 8. The fact that I use my finger to unlock my computer! You can’t open it unless your’e me. Touch ID didn’t even exist when I got my first mac book air 11 years ago. I love this feature.

  • 9. There is an emoji bar on my computer! It sits right above my keyboard. The bar also highlights words that I use often so I can just click the bar to insert the word. And my most used emoji’s pop up automatically. I was not ready for that bar, because it was so new to me, but I absolutely love it!

A Deep Dive Into Whitney Houston's Favorite Perfumes!

One of the questions I have repeatedly been asked over the years in regards to meeting Whitney Houston was, “What did she smell like?” Well now, over two decades later, I finally have an answer. Initially, I would always be thrown off by that question because what Whitney smelled like was the furthest thing from my brain when I met her. My only goal was to hold it together so that I wouldn’t pass out in front of her! Lol!

worthphoto.jpg

Recently, I received a bottle of Whitney’s signature perfume, which is named “Worth” by Je Reviens from Sedef Aygun who is a fellow Whitney Houston fan from Germany. She was beyond kind to send me a bottle. I never intended to wear it, but rather just have it as a keepsake. Before Sedef sent the bottle to me, she told me that she had communicated with Whitney’s sister n law, Pat Houston and actually confirmed that Whitney did wear “Worth” by Je Reviens. However, I already knew it was true, because both Bobby Brown and Robyn Crawford mentioned Whitney’s signature scent by name in their memoirs.

I was really curious to see what this fragrance smelled like and share with you what I thought about it. I loved the way it was packaged. The blue bottle with the gold top screamed elegance. But when I actually smelled it, I was taken aback. I would have never pictured Whitney choosing this scent. It smells like something a nice older lady would wear to church. A literal bouquet of bright florals is the best way I can describe the scent . I could see Cissy wearing this before Whitney.

But here’s the thing about fragrances. How it smells in the bottle might be completely different then when the scent mixes with your body chemistry. So, that’s my guess as to why it smelled so good on Whitney that it became her signature scent. But, just smelling it by itself, I was extremely underwhelmed.

But don’t get it twisted! I am still thrilled to own a bottle because it’s what Whitney wore! And at the end of the day, that’s all that matters to me. So, now going forward, anytime someone asks me how Whitney smelled I can honestly answer them and refer them to “Worth” by Je Reviens

Below are a few other fragrances that google claimed Whitney wore. You can check them all out in my amazon store on my “All Things Whitney Houston” list

Floyd Marshall Jr. Interviews Founder and Host of Studio Q, Quencie Thomas [VIDEO]

I am always the one doing interviews so, when Floyd Marshall Jr. of The Independent Film Association of Philadelphia asked to interview me I was very reluctant! That’s absolutely no shade to Floyd that is always my first response to anyone who wants to interview me.

My first question is always the same, what are we going to talk about? Floyd replied, your interviews of course! And that’s just what we did. I had a great time talking about how I got started interviewing celebrities, how I founded Studio Q and sharing some behind the scene stories.
