Quencie Interviews Actor, Joe Morton

I spoke to veteran actor Joe Morton who is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Scandal) on the red carpet of The 47th annual NAACP Nominees luncheon.  We talked about his feelings about the Oscar controversy and people calling for Chris Rock to step down as host. His reaction echoed the same sentiments of Whoopi Goldberg when she shared her comments on 'The View.' "Why boycott Chris Rock?" says Joe Morton right off the bat. He goes on to say,  'I think it's too late to boycott the Oscars."  Watch the rest of what he says below.

Quencie Interviews Egypt Sherrod

When I attended the NAACP Image Awards luncheon I spoke to HGTV host and author, Egypt Sherrod who is nominated for the release of her first book, “Keep Calm…It’s Just Real Estate: Your No Stress Guide To Buying A Home.”   Egypt's show, “Property Virgins” is highly rated and can be seen every week on HGTV.  Recently, HGTV green-lit her original spin off show “Flipping Virgins.” The show consists of three parts: she helps the investors find a property to flip, she then helps them renovate it – then, they sell it.  Since Egypt seems to embody success I asked her what is the best advice she could give to young people about never giving up. She immediately recalled something Oprah Winfrey shared with her.  Watch Egypt's answer below.

Egypt Sherrod’s ‘Keep Calm It’s Just Real Estate‘ is available for purchase online at Amazon.com or KeepCalmItsJustRealEstate.com. For more information on Egypt Sherrod visit egyptsherrodrealestate.com and egyptcares.org

Make sure you watch the 47th NAACP Image Awards, which will broadcast live on Friday, February 5 (9:00 p.m. ET/PT tape-delayed) on TV One.

I Appeared on HuffPost Live and Asked a Question to Regina King, Dascha Polance and Salt N Pepa

I was thrilled to be invited to ask Emmy-award winning Regina King, Orange is The New Black's, Dascha Polance and the legendary Hip-Hop duo Salt N Pepa a question on HuffPost Live. Cheryl 'Salt' James even remembered me from an interview I did with her and Pepa in LA.  I was grinning from ear to ear about that. Watch all of my questions below.

Missy Elliott Followed Me on Twitter

I was so excited that the legendary Missy Elliott followed me on Twitter this year.  I was even more excited when she tweeted about missing Whitney Houston (which I do too by the way) using my interview with Whitney.  Now that's dope!  Shout out to my Facebook friend Jimi Whitneylover Te nana who let me know. Facebook is great for a good tag.  Interviewing Missy Elliott in 2016, would be the icing on the cake. Let's claim it, shall we?  So happy Missy graced us with some hot new sounds and a dope new music video this year.  Make sure you cop her new music.  We gotta keep supporting futuristic legends like her.

I Interviewed The Legendary Chaka Khan and her daughter, Indira Khan

I was so honored to interview the legendary Chaka Khan and her daughter Indira Khan at the launch party for 'Daughters of Soul' at Maverick's Flat in Los Angeles.  We talked about motherhood, honesty and Indira playing her iconic mom in the upcoming Miki Howard biopic, which will debut on TV ONE in June 2016.  We also talked about what it was like to grow up as Chaka Khan's daughter. I Covered The 'Daughters of Soul' Launch Party

I was asked to exclusively cover the launch party for 'Daughters of Soul' at Maverick's Flat in Los Angeles. Founded by singer, Sandra St. Victor (The Family Stand) in 2004, Daughters of Soul include daughters of six soul legends: Lalah Hathaway (Donny Hathaway), Lisa Simone (Nina Simone), Indira Khan (Chaka Khan), Kori Withers (Bill Withers), Syleena Johnson (Syl Johnson) and Sylvette “Phunne” Stone (The Family Stone’s Sly Stone and Cynthia Robinson).  These ladies performed to an intimate crowd and had everyone grooving with a jam session. Click above to watch my interviews with the Daughters of Soul.

I Interviewed Yo Yo at her Private 'Unsung' Screening Event

I was invited to Yo Yo's private screening of her 'Unsung' episode which appeared on TV One.  I interviewed Yo Yo, her mom, grandma, cousins and friends on the red carpet about her amazing career in Hip Hop.  I even periscoped live from the event.  I loved being able to interview one of the legendary west coast women in hip hop.  She's a role model and a legend.

I Interviewed Paula Jai Parker

I loved that I had the opportunity to interview Paula Jai Parker on the set of Bounce TV's hit sitcom, 'Family Time.'  She was open and shared a lot of wisdom about acting.  We also talked about her TV One reality show, Hollywood Divas, her acting career and the new role she played on 'Family Time.'

I Interviewed Syleena Johnson

I interviewed Syleena Johnson and watched her perform for the first time at the Daughters of Soul launch party at Maverick Flats in LA. This R&B Diva is as cool and down to earth as they come. Watch my one on one with her above.

I Interviewed Bounce TV's 'Family Time' stars Omar Gooding and Angell Conwell

IMG_8989.jpg

I had so much fun interviewing Angell Conwell and Omar Gooding during a set visit on Bounce TV's hit sitcom, 'Family Time.'  Family Time chronicles the lives of the Stallworths, who have recently relocated to the suburbs.  High school sweethearts Tony Stallworth (Omar Gooding), a struggling general contractor, and Lisa Stallworth (Angell Conwell), an energetic stay-at-home mom, lovingly quarrel with each other and their mischievous children, Devin and Ebony, as they make up their own rules for love, marriage, and family along the way.  Family Time comes on every Tuesday on Bounce TV at 9pm/8pm central.  You can watch full episodes of the show here http://www.bouncetv.com/video/.

Check out my interview with Omar and Angell below.

I Interviewed TheLegendary Hip Hop Duo Salt N Pepa

I was so honored to get the opportunity to interview legendary hip hop duo, Salt N Pepa on the set of Bounce TV's hit sitcom 'Family Time'.  I also interviewed the cast of 'Family Time' and they were all as excited as I was to be hanging out with Salt N Pepa. The episode they were filming that day was all about the group. Watch the trailer for my interview with Salt N Pepa who were both mad cool by the way.

I Interviewed Kirk Whalum

static1.squarespace-2.png

I interviewed the amazing saxophonist Kirk Whalum, who has worked with top artists like, Barbara Streisand, Al Jarreau, Luther Vandross, Larry Carlton, Quincy Jones and most notably, Whitney Houston.  It’s his sax heard on the mega-hit, “I Will Always Love You."  Check out the trailer for my interview with Kirk, which you can watch exclusively on VHX. Visit StudioQ.vhx.tv to learn more.

I Interviewed The Cast From 'Sweetie Pies' and 'Raising Whitley' at a Press Event at OWN TV

I Became Obsessed with Periscope and Created "Q's Celebrity Scope," "Q Tips," and "Behind The Interview"

In the summer of 2015, I discovered the periscope app and became obsessed with it.  I wasn't the only one too because it was named the #1 app of the year.  I learned so much from watching other people's broadcast.  It kept me up many nights just watching my phone screen.  My first periscope show was "Q's Celebrity Scope," where I showed all of my red carpet interviews with celebrities.  In 2016, I will bring my shows "Q Tips" and "Behind The Interview" to periscope which will feature my red carpet tips and the stories behind my interviews.  Watch some of my periscopes below by clicking on the picture.

I Co-Hosted a Blab Show with my Bestie and Producer, Tam

12226920_10153656842332557_1312519324208126363_n.jpg

I launched a weekly blab show called "Black Girls Talk" which later evolved into "Studio Q LIVE," and co-hosted it with my producer and bestie, Tam.  Blab is an exciting and new platform in which you can join via live stream video, or simply chat while watching.  It was fun to chat with friends and strangers about pop culture. We did a lot of laughing on blab. Shout  out to everyone who joined us in 2015 on our blab show.

Make sure you SUBSCRIBE to me on blab by visiting Blab.im/Quencie. To learn more about Blab, visit: Quencie.com/howBlabWorks.  Watch all of our past episodes by clicking the pic below.

Zendaya Shouted Me Out!

How cool was it that the super dope Zendaya shouted me out on video in 2015.  She is only the darling of the fashion world who has her own personalized Barbie doll.  Zendaya has to be one of the best role models that we've seen come out of Disney in awhile.  I think she is a class act and on her way  to being a huge superstar.  Now I have proof she knows me, uh well at least my name, lol.  This video was made possible by her sister Kizzy who is friends with my bestie and producer, Tam. They were co-workers once upon a time and out of nowhere Kizzy surprised me with this video.  Kizzy is such a sweetie. Thanks Kizzy!  Love you, longtime.

I covered Kiki Shepard's 12th Annual Celebrity Bowling Challenge for Sickle Cell Disease Awareness

In September I attended the 12th Annual Celebrity Bowling Challenge to ‘raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disease’ hosted by  KiKi Shepard and The K.I.S Foundation.  The event was held at PINZ Entertainment Center in Studio City, CA.  I had a blast doing red carpet interviews with celebrities, Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood), Rocky Carroll (NCIS), Tonya Banks (Little Women), Dawnn LewisRichard Brooks (Being Mary Jane), Elise Neal (Hollywood Divas), Omar Gooding (Family Time) and Affion Crockett.  Check it out below.

 RIP Bobbi Kristina

I'm so heartbroken over the passing of Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina in 2015.  I'm praying hard for her family to deal with two such tragic losses.  Before Whitney or her daughter died, I put together a video that celebrated the mother-daughter bond that was so strong between them.  Bobbi Kristina has watched and re-tweeted my video on a few different occasions. It now has almost 2 million views. I pray that Whitney and Bobbi Kristina are reunited in heaven.  You can watch my tribute video below.

My Bestie and Producer Became a New Mom and Relaunched Quencie.com

Tam and my Godson, Jayden

Tam and my Godson, Jayden

Shout out to my best friend Tam who became a new mother in the midst of helping me with all things Studio Q.  She adopted this adorable little boy in 2015, who has also became my new Godson.  Even with this amazing life transforming event taking place in her life, Tam has still went above and beyond for Studio Q and I am forever grateful for her.  We all need a team, and Tam is that plus 2.  She relaunched Quencie.com on Squarespace without even knowing what Squarespace was.  Every time I came up with a new way to win she was right there to support me.  She created my media kit, co-hosted the blab show with me and has literally filmed every Studio Q interview I have done since 2012. The only difference now is we have to find a babysitter after we say yes to an event or an interview.  What a difference a year makes!  Thank you Tam for everything you contributed this year along with being a full time mommy! Jayden is already an amazing addition to the Studio Q family. We even taught him the theme song that Tam sings to the Studio Q show. He now randomly sings it in line at grocery stores. Don't believe me? Watch below.

While attending the "Daughters of Soul" launch party, we got a chance to witness greatness - Chaka Khan getting on the drums and jamming to Stevie Wonder's "I Wish."  What a treat!

Chaka attended the "Daughters of Soul" event because her daughter, Indira Khan, is a part of the project.  Founded by singer, Sandra St. Victor, Daughters of Soul include daughters of six soul legends: Lalah Hathaway (Donny Hathaway), Lisa Simone (Nina Simone), Indira Khan (Chaka Khan), Kori Withers (Bill Withers), Syleena Johnson (Syl Johnson) and Sylvette “Phunne” Stone (The Family Stone’s Sly Stone and Cynthia Robinson).

Quencie Interviews Jason Lee of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood

Last week I went to a press event at OWN for their docu-series 'Raising Whitley' and 'Sweetie Pies' and I ran into Jason Lee of Love and Hip Hop Hollywood.  Jason Lee is a celebrity blogger who has dropped many exclusives on his website. He is most known for his connections and influence in the industry as a media and brand integration specialist.

Now he's also known for that drink he splashed in Hazel's face on the show Love and Hip Hop Hollywood. I was so happy Jason agreed to go live on periscope with me at the event.  We talk about Hazel, the upcoming LHHH reunion and his thoughts on Miles and Milan.

He's hilarious by the way so be ready to laugh. Watch my periscope interview with Jason below and make sure you check him out on Love and Hip Hop Hollywood.

Check out another interview I did with Jason about Whitney Houston's last red carpet which was at an event that he put on. Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Salt N Pepa

Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 8.47.59 PM.png

I interviewed Salt N Pepa on the set of Bounce TV's original series 'Family Time' during production of the series' 3rd season.  Salt N Pepa were special guest stars on the show.  'Family Time' stars Omar Gooding (Smart Guy) and Angell Conwell (The Young and the Restless).  This season of Family Time also featured Paula Jai Parker (Hollywood Divas) as Conwell's sister.

Salt (Cheryl James) and Pepa (Sandra Denton) talked about their most recent appearance on Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV.  The show is hosted by LL Cool J and supermodel co-host, Chrissy Teigen.  During the taping, the female MCs both chose pop anthems in Round 1 - Salt, Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” and Pepa, Katy Perry’s “Firework.”  For some of their fans, it may have seemed like an odd choice. For Salt and Pepa, however, it was a chance to live out their diva fantasies.  “We can’t sing, so we’ve been wanting to do this for years,”  Salt said, “It’s exhilarating.”  In Round 2, Salt turnt it up with a spot-on performance of Run-D.M.C.’s “It’s Tricky” - complete with the rap group’s signature track suits!  But Pepa, wearing a sequined jumpsuit, channeled in her inner disco diva with a rousing performance of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”  - and ended up taking home the belt.

Salt N Pepa also discussed being icons in the industry, the advise they have for their children getting started in the entertainment industry, as well as being on tour.  My time with these legends was full of fun and laughter ! Watch my interview below.

Quencie Interviews Paula Jai Parker

Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 10.10.01 PM.png

I sat down with actress, Paula Jai Parker on the set of Bounce TV's original show, Family Time.  Family Time stars Omar Gooding (Smart Guy) and Angell Conwell (The Young and the Restless). Paula Jai Parker plays Conwell's sister.  This episode has an 80's theme and features Salt N Pepa.

Paula talks to me about persevering in the entertainment industry, her first lead in a TV One film called 'The Summoning' and the hit reality show 'Hollywood Divas.' Watch our conversation Below.

Quencie Interviews Bentley Kyle Evans

Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 8.33.58 PM.png

I interviewed Bentley Kyle Evans who is the creator of Family Time.  He has also created Love That Girl, co-created The Jamie Foxx Show and produced the hit series Martin. He was the first African-American TV exec to have sitcoms airing on two networks simultaneously with the creation of "The Jamie Foxx Show" [1996-2001]. Both shows aired over 100 episodes and continue to run in world-wide syndication today.  He even repeated that history with the premiere of "My Crazy Roommate" on Bounce TV and "Love That Girl," on TV One.  He's continuing his history making trend with two shows on Bounce TV right now.  On top of all that he is a super cool down to earth guy. Watch my interview with him about his show 'Family Time' below.

Quencie Interviews Lil Mama

I got a chance to watch Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story with Lil Mama herself at Xen Lounge in Studio City, CA.  It was fun to watch her reaction to different parts of the VH-1 movie.  She could only watch in small doses. "I can't watch myself," she yelled one time.  Most of the time she live tweeted or walked around. She just couldn't sit still.  I on the other hand could not move.  It was uncanny how much Lil Mama looked like Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez.

She did a great job and seemed to have been born to play this part. According to Deadline, the biopic debuted to record ratings drawing 4.5 million viewers, making it the network's highest-rated telecast in more than five years.  Deadline also reported that CrazySexyCool was the No. 1 original cable movie for the year.  They even won the praises of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes' sister, Reigndrop Lopes who praised Lil' Mama's performance. "I think Lil Mama did a good job at portraying my sis. She did her homework and studied Lisa. As a fan, I know it was important for Lil Mama to represent Lisa correctly and she did just that! Although the script didn't allow her to bring Lisa's true character to light. She did the best with what she had to work with. All the girls did a good job!" Check out my interview with Lil Mama following the screening. Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Faith Evans

I sat down one-on-one with Faith Evans at a recording studio in Hollywood. In this interview I got to know Faith Evans in an intimate yet fun way.  I found out things you never heard her talk about until now.  This is a "Must-See" interview. Faith even sings something exclusive from her days as a kid growing up in Brick City.  That's Newark, NJ for those of you who don't know. What are you waiting for? Move your mouse down and click play on this interview with the original first lady of Bad Boy, Faith Evans.

Quencie Interviews Meagan Good & DeVon Franklin

Screen Shot 2013-07-26 at 4.00.30 PM.png

I interviewed actress Meagan Good and her film executive, husband DeVon Franklin at Roland Martin's Hollywood Soiree in Beverly Hills. It was great to interview this beautiful couple.  I talked with Meagan about her film roles, marriage with DeVon and her connection to Whitney Houston. Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Erika Alexander

Remember Maxine Shaw, Attorney at Law from the hit 90's sitcom Living Single? Well, I do! I love Erika Alexander and the role that she made so iconic. I was elated to get a chance to interview her at Roland Martin's Hollywood Soiree.  We talked all things 'Cosby Show' and 'Living Single.'  Erika also told us about her role in AMC's Low Winter Sun and a comic book that she, her husband, and brother created called Concrete Park.

My Producer Tam and Erika Alexander

My Producer Tam and Erika Alexander

When my producer, Tam spotted Erika in the room no interview mattered but the one with her. I'm a big fan too, but Tam is a Stan. She has been wanting to meet Erika forever. So glad she finally did.  It was also great to experience just how kind Erika was. I always like to mention when someone is kind, because everyone isn't, so when they are, it should be noted.  A little bit of kindness can go such a long way.

We always appreciate when the people we loved are actually loveable.  As much as we all loved Max on Living Single, Erika Alexander is even cooler!  Watch my interview with Erika below.

Quencie Interviews Miki Howard

Back when I was in college I played Miki Howard's song, 'Come Share My Love' so much that my audio cassette tape almost broke. I love that song so much!  It was my first introduction to Miki's amazing voice which made me an instant fan. Fast forward years later in LA when I got to experience my very first Miki Howard concert at a jazz spot named 'Catalina' located on Sunset Boulevard.   Her show was exciting and fun. Miki leaves the crowd always wanting more.

The super cool part was after the concert I actually got to sit down and interview her. This was my first celebrity sit down interview in LA so I was nervous beyond words, especially since I had her song on repeat during all my college years. Miki's personality was fun and immediately put me at ease. We had a good time and even became friends! I love me some Miki Howard! Watch below.

Quencie Interviews Jenifer Lewis

Is there a movie that Jenifer Lewis has not been in?  Check your DVD collection or your TV guide and I'm sure you will see her name come up more than it doesn't.  This veteran actress is a treasured legend, especially to Black Hollywood.  She is so good that she makes you love and hate her at the same time depending on what role she's playing. Who didn't love her in 'Jackie's Back'? And who didn't hate her in, 'What's Love Got To Do With It' starring Angela Bassett or 'Not Easily Broken' starring Taraji P. Henson.

I had the distinct honor to sit down with Jenifer Lewis in the backyard of her Hollywood mansion.  If you liked Jenifer Lewis before, be prepared to fall in love with her after this interview. Her honesty, words of wisdom, and humor, are what you will immediately feel after watching this interview.  Watch my interview with the original Dreamgirl below. You will walk away inspired.

Quencie and Eric Benét

I got to interview one of R&B Music's greatest tenors!  My interview with the soulful sangin Eric Benét took place inside his recording studio in Studio City, CA.  It was right before the release of his album 'The One,' which was distributed on his own record label. This guy is not only FINE he is down to earth and beyond talented. His beautiful love songs are songs that you make babies with and get married to. Watch our conversation below.
