According to Deadline, Nicki Minaj has been given the greenlight for a new comedy series based on her childhood growing up in Queens, NY. Nicki is set to executive produce and star in the series. She will be putting her acting skills learned at Laguardia High School to use. The series is set to air on ABC Family, written by “The Bernie Mac Show” writer Kate Angelo and produced by Kapital Entertainment, and the pilot episode will be shot in Nicki’s old neighborhood this winter. Nicki Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the U.S. as child. The upcoming series will bring a comedic take on what it was like for her immigrant family to adjust to life in Queens in the 90s.
Nicki Minaj is super excited about the project saying,
“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
With credits under her belt such as The Other Woman and the upcoming Barbershop 3 film, Nicki should be a natural in front of the camera.
