According to HelloBeautiful, during Beyoncé’s sold-out concert in her hometown of Houston, TX on Saturday, there were a few dozen police officers protesting outside the NRG Stadium, KHOU wrote. The group performed a silent protest, shining a blue light on the stadium.
“Some of her performances we believe to be anti-police,” said Tony Ragsdale, who is a member of the Pasadena Police Department and of the Coalition for Police and Sheriffs (C.O.P.S.) told the local news. Ragsdale is referring to Bey’s “Formation” video where she stood on top of a New Orleans police car, sinking into the water beneath her. But Beyonce was clear in her recent Elle interview that she her message was never anti-cop, just anti-police brutality.
“I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers. Anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken,” she told the fashion Bible in their May issue.
