Common to Star in Keanu Reeves’ ‘John Wick 2’ as Villain

According to Variety, Common will play the villain role opposite Keanu Reeves in Lionsgate’s “John Wick 2,” with production starting this week.  Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the original with David Leitch, is helming the sequel. Details of the plot have not been disclosed.  CEO Jon Feltheimer told Wall Street analysts in February that the sequel was in the works. Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk is returning to produce. Lionsgate began selling foreign markets for the sequel at Cannes. The original movie grossed $43 million domestically and $35 million internationally following its launch a year ago.  Reeves played a retired hitman seeking vengeance for the killing of his puppy, a gift from his late wife.  Common’s credits include “Entourage,” “Run All Night” and “Barbershop 3.” He will be seen next in Warner Bros.’ “Suicide Squad.”
