Chadwick Boseman as Thurgood Marshall in 'Marshall'

According to The YBF, Chadwick Boseman as Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in the upcoming Marshall thriller has been unveiled.  The photo also features EMMY winner Sterling K. Brown, who will play Joseph Spell, black chauffeur accused of kidnapping and raping a wealthy white woman, and Josh Gad as lawyer Sam Friedman. "The People vs. OJ Simpson" star Keesha Sharp will play Thurgood's wife Buster Thurgood and "Empire" star Jussie Smollett will play Langston Hughes. Marshall isn’t a biopic. It’s a thriller.

“I can’t wait for the world to see this movie,” director Reginald Hudlin said. “It’s a thriller, not a biopic, about an early case of one of the greatest lawyers in American history. In a time when we need heroes who fight for justice, ‘Marshall’ is an inspirational movie that brings people together.”

According to Variety, “Marshall is based on the young Marshall defending a black chauffeur in 1941 against his wealthy socialite employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial that quickly became tabloid fodder. Marshall was partnered with Friedman, a young Jewish lawyer who had never tried a case.”  The film is set to hit theaters October 13th.
