According to Blackfilm.com, actress Angela Bassett has been cast as the lead of Ryan Murphy‘s next series, “911.” Created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the 13-episode, straight-to-series order is expected to be announced as part of Fox’s upfront presentation on Monday (May 15). Bassett will also serve as an executive producer. According to Deadline, 911 revolves around the lives of 911 operators. Bassett played Dr. Cate Banfield as a regular during ER’s last season. She recently had a cameo appearance as a midwife in WGN America’s Underground.
Her performances on “AHS: Coven” and “AHS: Freak Show” led to two Emmy nominations, to go along with her Oscar nomination for Best Actress in “What’s Love Got To Do With It.”
